Peter Christopherson RIP
Influential electronic musician, designer and video director Peter “Sleazy” Chistopherson, a founding member of Throbbing Gristle, Psychic TV & Coil, has passed away at the age of 55.
Read some reflections here.

To give an idea of the scope of Sleazy’s many-faceted sound & video work, I want to share 3 different videos.
First, one of countless live performances of Throbbing Gristle’s “Discipline”, a fine piece of audience provocation, circa 1980:
Here’s a live performance of Coil’s “What Kind of Animal Are You?” live in Moscow. Intense & haunting.
Finally, a track from Coil’s drone masterpiece Time Machines. Sublime minimal synthesizer explorations by Christohperson & company:
Ah, but that’s not all… Christopherson is also responsible for some well-known album artwork during his stint with Hipgnosis, including Pink Floyd’s “Wish You Were Here”:

As if that weren’t enough, he is also responsible for a few of my favorite music videos.
Nine Inch Nails “March of the Pigs”:
He also did the notorious full-album video for “Broken” – look it up!
Ministry “Just One Fix” with memorable appearance by William S Burroughs:
It amuses me to reflect that I first encountered his work via Beavis & Butthead! Even they dug the Ministry video, though, like much of his work, some may consider it “beyond the limits of good taste”.
Rage Against The Machine “Freedom”:
RIP Sleazy!!! Yr work will continue to inspire & provoke…
